Now that the holiday is behind us, start the New Year off by getting all your Christmas and holiday decorations organized and put away.
You don't need anything fancy to keep your ornaments organized, just a few large tote bags and any leftover Christmas boxes and tissue will do.
Taking care to put things away properly, pays off big time when you're able to find everything you're looking for and nothing is broken next year.
Here are our best (and simple) tips to keep your Christmas decorations organized all year round.
1) Declutter Your Decorations Before You Put Them Away for the Season
If there is anything you put out this year, think about if you really want to keep it. Make sure your storage bins are free of any left over boxes, tissues or junk that shouldn't be there. If there is anything broken, get rid of it. Things you don't like? Pass them on to someone who does.
The point here is, don't like your storage get cluttered up with junk you don't want. Be intentional about what you're storing.
2) Wrap Your Lights
Use a piece of cardboard (a flap of a Christmas delivery box works great!) to wrap your strings of lights around. If you have a lot of lights, use a few different pieces. This will help prevent them from getting tangled, and save space in your storage bin.
3) Label Everything
It's important to know what you have. Use our chalk markers to label all your bins. On the side of your storage bin note exactly what's inside, plus your total number of holiday bins.
4) Take Note
Is there anything that needs to be replaced? You can either take advantage of post holiday sales, or make a note on your storage bin of what needs to be purchased at the beginning of the season. No one wants to put up their Christmas tree in December to find the lights are broken and the stores are sold out.
5) Celebrate!
So often we're off to the next project before we stop and celebrate completing the first.
Take a moment to celebrate another successful holiday season wrapped-up and an organized start to your New Year.
